What Now

"So... now what?"

Over the summer after Hobbes and Murdoch died and Elphie left, Tonks and Ghillie wandered around the house in a stunned stupor for a few weeks as if not sure what to do. I think it really shows how death can affect a household--even if it is an animal death--if the remaining animals are feeling grief too. I think it hit Ghillie the most; shelties are empathetic dogs and she had a longer relationship will Hobbes, Murdoch, and Elphie. 

On top of losing three animals--Elphie is doing wonderfully and is training to work with a veteran!--Ghillie ended up having a serious skin infection. While we were on vacation in North Carolina, we had to take Ghillie to the vet. They had to shave her from the ribs down on her left side so for awhile--and even now in December--she has a shaved-side look. So she became punk rock.

And obviously her character had to get a new design.

I drew this two days after Murdoch's death. I've seen sad things in my life, but a cat and a dog walking around unsure of life was upsetting.
